Art and Poetry at 'The Link' for Year 9
Mr Kearey took Year 9 Art students to an artists-led workshop at The Link youth and community centre in Thamesmead recently.
They learned about the technique of screen-printing from two artists from the Institute of Contemporary Art, London.
This was a great opportunity for students to practice and create works which have contributed to the coursework for their GCSE. The students produce two screen-prints on paper and also a screen-printed t-shirt.
The same students involved in the screen print workshop spent the afternoon producing poetry inspired by the curriculum art theme of ‘identity’. They were led by the street poet, Valentine, who also encouraged many of the students to perform their written pieces.
