Exam Preparation
Adequate preparation for your exams and organised revision sessions will help you achieve the best from your time.
Revision guides and tips
Our teachers have prepared some subject-by-subject revision resources to help you prepare for your exams. You can also download our revision tips presentation (pdf) to help you prepare for your exams. Find out which techniques work, and which do not!
To help you plan your revision we would recommend using a tool such as GetRevising’s study planner to help you organise yourself as well as give you a huge amount of extra information and support. If you prefer working form paper, there is blank revision timetable which you can print and complete.
In addition to resources provided by the Academy, additonal resources are also provided by the Harris Federation in the form of a booklet to support revision and exam preparation. This is available to students here.
Exam preparation schedule
You can download the exam letter for Summer 2024 here which was sent to parents/carers about GCSE exam preparation. Students will receive a bespoke timetable covering the school day and after-school intervention classes. This schedule maximises the time that each pupil gets with their class teachers of subjects at a critical point during the exam season.
Revision and progress intervention
GCSE revision support or interventions for Year 11 run throughout the year. Each subject has intervention running after school and on some Saturdays. For Year 11, intervention may run from 3:10pm to 4:00pm (4:10pm to 5:00pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) after school and 9.00am to 12.00pm on a Saturday.
Year 11 are also placed into Curriculum Catch-Up groups to maximise the time they have with subject specialist teachers. These groups focus on key aspects of the specification and assessment requirements in addition to the general Year 11 tutor programme. These sessions run Tuesday to Thursday in place of tutor time and provide approximately two extra hours of teaching time per week. Students will be placed into these groups based on their academic progress. Time will also be allocated to ensure students are supported with post-16 applications.
