Developing 'Cultural Capital' at the Tower of London
Saturday saw students visit the Tower of London and Tower Bridge as part of a trip funded by the Jack Petchey Foundation to help students develop their 'cultural capital'.
Students were given a historical tour of the site and explored the importance of the White Keep, the central tower (pictured).
The students also visited the ravens and saw the famous Beefeaters, as well as the infamous executions sites of Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard. The students also took great delight in witnessing how torture was administered in medieval times!
A definite highlight of the tour was seeing the Crown Jewels of the British Royal family. As part of the visit, Harris Garrard students also went to see the inner workings of Tower Bridge.
A truly informative and memorable day that helped to develop the students’ cultural capital.
