World Book Day Celebrations Across Whole School - Pictures
On Thursday 8th March we celebrated World Book Day across Harris Garrard Academy. Our primary children had a fantastic day with the afternoon’s learning based around the theme of World Book Day.
All Key Stage 3 lessons had a literary theme, from studying Les Miserables in French to Potions in science. In the lessons, teachers had the opportunity to share their passion for reading with students and students were able to understand the links between all their subjects and literacy.
Students also had the opportunity to participate in a scavenger hunt. They had to find the teachers that were dressed up for World Book Day (see picture above) and find out details from the novel they feature in. The winner of the scavenger hunt will be announced next week!
Next week we will be running a book fair during lunchtime and after school. Students will have the opportunity to look through bookcases containing over 200 of the newest and best books from over sixty publishers all for sale. With books starting from only £2.99, plus exclusive titles that you won’t see in the shops or at any other fairs, there’s something for everyone!
