Three Students' Poems in Shakespeare Anthology
Three students from the Harris Garrard Academy have been selected to have their poems published in a special poetry anthology as part of the Young Writers' Shake-Up Shakespeare competition. We’re really proud of Ben (pictured left), Joshua (pictured right) and Leo.
To enter, students had to write a poem inspired by Shakespeare, his poems or plays. Many students made use of the knowledge they had of either Othello or Romeo and Juliet to write their Shakespeare inspired poems. The competition was open during both Shakespeare Week (March) and Shakespeare Day (April)
Many of our Harris Garrard Academy students rose to the occasion and wrote innovative poems. Work was selected for the anthology based on imagination, perception, expression and creative use of language.
Secret Sagas
Entries are also now being accepted for the Secret Sagas competition. Students can make one entry each. Stories can only be 100 words long and inspired by a sentence start. Entries can be written or typed. Find out more about the competition.
You can collect entry forms from Miss Bywater in Room 240, or ask your English teacher. The deadline for all stories to be received is the 19th December. As well as the competition prizes, we will also be awarding a prize for the best story at the Harris Garrard Academy and a runner up prize.
Best of luck to all who enter!
