Year 9 Work with STEM Industry Mentors

Year 9 students took part in EDF’s Industrial Cadets programme last term, to help them explore careers in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).

They took part in a STEM project to design sustainable facilities to meet the demands of a changing climate, working alongside mentors from GSK and Cory Riverside Energy, with their final project assessed by a panel of industry experts.

Industrial Cadets Resilience Award 2They faced many challenges that included working through a pandemic and technical issues due to a malware attack on the Harris Federation. The judges recognised our students for their resilience by awarding them with the Determination Award. Well Done! 

In addition, Year 10 students attended a virtual lecture series at Imperial College, learning about advances in science and medicine. We hope that these wide-ranging opportunities will help our students become more confident in their futures as they continue their education.

We look forward to supporting the students as they progress in their education. 

Students work as a team to generate ideas for sustainable design.
