Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge - Meet The HGA Team
At the beginning of the summer term, fifteen of our Year 10 students were invited to attend our annual ‘Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge’ workshop.
The event was hosted by the enigmatic AC Gaskell, an avid motorcyclist who specialises in encouraging young people to talk passionately about the things they believe in.
Students spent the day in the drama studio engaging in several activities designed to promote oracy; those in attendance were particularly lucky to hear Suhkman try to articulate why his chariot drawn by 10,000 hamsters was the future of transportation!
Following a few warm-up and role-play exercises, students then spent some time writing, practising and honing their speeches before presenting them to the rest of the group.
After a very difficult voting process, Mr Carr, Ms Gadim and Mr Brookeman decided upon our four HGA finalists: Mannha, Jael, Great and Hannah. Each will present their speeches to the rest of the school via digital performance in the coming weeks and our student cohort will be able to vote for our overall winner!
