HGA Poets to Appear in Special Lyrical Anthology
Nine HGA students (pictured below) have been selected to have their poems in a special lyrical poetry anthology, as part of the Young Writers' Busta Rhyme competition.
To enter students had to write a lyrical poem. They learned how lyrical poets express emotion through verse on all matter of subjects, from current affairs, religion and identity to love, loss and everything in-between. It's a chance to voice opinion, share a memory or dilemma, impart advice, or indulge in writing about something you adore.
Many of our Harris Gerrard Academy students rose to the occasion and wrote innovative poems. Work was selected for the anthology based on imagination, perception, expression and creative use of language. We’re very proud of the nine Harris Garrard Students who had their work selected.
Truth of Dare
Entries are also now being accepted for the The Poetry Games: Truth or Dare? competition. Students can make one entry each. Poems can be written or typed on any theme and in any poetic style. Find out more.
Collect your entry forms from Miss Bywater in Room 240, or ask your English teacher. The deadline for all poems to be received is the 19 October. As well as the competition prizes, we will also be awarding a prize for the best poem and a runner up prize.
Best of luck to all who enter and may the odds be ever in your favour!
