Strong GCSE Results at Harris Garrard Academy
Harris Garrard Academy is celebrating a strong set of GCSE results.
The school's Progress 8 score, which takes into account the starting point of students in Year 7 to measure how much progress they make at secondary school, is likely to be +0.53. This is well above average.
73% of students achieved a Grade 4 pass or higher in English and 63% did so in maths.
Thirteen pupils were awarded 18 Grade 9s between them. Science results were particularly strong this year, with 91% of students achieving Grade 5 or above in Chemistry and Biology and 86% doing so in Physics.
There were a number of individual successes including:
- Caitlin (pictured above), who achieved the highest Attainment 8 score across the entire year group with an average score of 8.5 (including 4 grade 9s and 2 Distinction Stars the highest awards available in their respective subjects
- Mary (pictured), who achieved the highest Progress 8 score across the entire year group – showing she is the student who made the most progress in school.

“I want to congratulate our Year 11 on these fantastic results, which indicate the enormous progress they have made during their secondary education," said Chris Everitt, Assistant Director, Harris Federation Secondary Education. "Two years after joining the Harris Federation, we are already seeing the impact on the outcomes students are achieving. I know that our outgoing Year 11 will go from strength to strength in the sixth form.
