HGA in 5th Place out of 55 Similar Secondary Schools
Harris Garrard Academy has come 5th out of 55 similar secondary schools based on its Attainment 8 outcomes, the Department for Education (DfE) announced recently. This is a remarkable achievement in our first year as an academy.
The DfE puts secondary schools across England and Wales into groups of 55 whose students have a similar attainment at the end of primary education. They then compare how students in those schools perform at the end of Key Stage 4. This enables schools to get a really good idea of how they are performing against schools with a similar intake.
See the complete list of the 55 schools in our group. "We are delighted to have come so far in just one year as a Harris Federation academy," said Executive Principal Chris Everitt. "Before joining the Harris Federation this school was significantly under-performing, so to have turned things around so quickly is a massive credit to our students and teachers."
Top 18% for progress
Harris Garrard Academy has scored well for student progress too, after achieving a provisional Progress 8 score of 0.37 based on our exam results last year. This is likely to place us in the top 18% of schools nationally for Progress 8.
