Great Term of Sport for Primary Children at Harris Garrard Academy
It’s been a fantastic term for sport in the primary phase here at Harris Garrard Academy, writes Nic Taylor, Director of Sport.
Our Hi5 Netball team are currently top of the Bexley Borough League, having won all their first five matches.
- HGA 9 – St. Paulinus 0
- HGA 16 – 2 Eastcote
- HGA 17 – 1 Upland
- HGA 24 – 0 St. Thomas More
- HGA 27 – 0 Bedonwell
That final result was a Borough record breaking score. With four games remaining we stand a very good chance of winning the Bexley League and going on to represent Bexley at the London Youth Games in the summer.
Here’s the league table as it stands at present.
Borough football
Harris Garrard Academy also hosted one of the Bexley Borough football tournaments and finished a respectable joint 2nd place, losing out to Banehurst Primary who were the overall winners of the event. This is another landmark as it is the first time Harris Garrard Academy has hosted an inter-school games tournament, further developing our reputation as one of the hubs for sport in the borough.
Intra-school competition
We have had our first of many intra-school competitions where we have two classes competing in a variety of multi-skills events. Pictured above are two children in Miro class (Year 3) who captained their class to victory against Arcimboldo class (Year 4) also demonstrated some excellent skill during the competition.
In curricular sport, this term have enjoyed developing skills in Netball, Futsal (KS1), Football (KS2) and Gymnastics.
We will endeavour to keep up the good work going into next term and hopefully enjoy continued sporting success both in competition and development of our pupils. Well done everyone!
