Battle of the Bookworms 2018 - Watch the Heats
Students will answer questions on their favourite books in a bid to win our first Battle of the Bookworms at the end of term.
“In the early knockout stages the questions will be about plot and character, with the questions getting progressively harder,” says English teacher Ailish Langan, who’s organising the competition. “In the later stages the questions will be about symbolism and themes too, for example.”
Sammi, Isaac, Taofeeqat and Ancuta from Year 10 are confident their team is going to win. “I thought it would be a great opportunity to be rewarded for all the reading we do,” says Sammi. Isaac adds: “I used to read more when I was younger but I don’t so much now but I saw there was a £200 prize for the team and I thought YES!”
The four have chosen to answer questions on five of their favourite titles: The Fault in our Stars, The Hunger Games, Holes, Private Peaceful and The Outsider. The early rounds will take place after school, with the semi-final and Grand Finale taking place at lunchtime and in front of an audience, for added pressure!
