Bookshop in School All This Week
It's Book Fair all this week at Harris Garrard Academy.
During lunchtime and after school, students will have the opportunity to look through bookcases containing over 200 of the newest and best books from over sixty publishers.
With books starting from only £2.99, plus exclusive titles that you won’t see in the shops or at any other fairs, there’s something for everyone!
Scholastic has provided cases full of new, popular books, as well as the classics which schools can sell, to bring a book shop into the heart of the school so that children can browse.
Love reading
At HGA, we often hold a Book Fair around World Book Day to try and gain maximum momentum leading up to the fair. It's all about getting children talking about books! They compare what they bought at the Book Fair and create their own book clubs too.
The academy also gets a percentage of the taking which we use to buy books for the school. The target for the Primary Phase target was £600, and thanks to all the parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents who have taken the time to come to the Book Fair, we've smashed our target.
What students say...
"It’s so cool to have a book shop at school. Can we have another one?"
What staff say...
"There’s a real buzz around the classroom. My children love reading but this has made them really excited. They’re comparing blurbs and authors all on their own."
We hope to run another Book Fair in the Summer…
