Exploring the City of London - Whittington Tour 2023
Year 10 Business students were given the opportunity to see what the City has to offer our future entrepreneurs and business leaders, through the Whittington Tour 2023.
The day was organised by The Worshipful Company of Security Professionals and students took part in a number of workshops and presentations throughout the day.
First stop was Northern Trust on Canada Square for breakfast, followed by a presentation and graduate Q&A at J P Morgan. Students then went to the highest floor in 1 Canada Square, Canary Wharf. Here they were given a presentation on Entrepreneurship by UCL.
For the afternoon sessions students were at Butchers Hall, where they found out more about the history of the City and the livery companies.
Workshops followed this in CV-writing and interview skills. Students had to put these skills into practice and conduct their own interview and 'first impressions' exercise.
The next speaker was a qualified barrister and county court judge who led on a networking workshop where students had to practise their networking and communication skills.
The day ended with a demonstration from the City Police, where students got to take a close look at the equipment and protective gear they use.
What students said...
Students loved the day and were so excited to return and tell all about it.
- "An amazing, eye-opening experience."
- "An informative, engaging trip that gives you an idea of jobs in London."
- "It was very busy - full of important things school cannot teach you and it was very good to learn about how it is to work in central London for big companies."
