Year 7 Football Club - "With Dedication Comes Results"
Mr Dowling reports on our new Year 7 football team.
Our Year 7 football team was picked following school trials where we were looking for the most talented and enthusiastic students to represent our school.
We didn't get the result we wanted in our first game, but the boys have been training extremely hard and with dedication comes results. Hopefully we will be seeing many wins coming our way soon!
The team is a great way to integrate new ideas and football knowledge. The boys are new to playing 9-a-side for their school, and I'm aiming to pass on any knowledge I can to better their game and develop their footballing brains!
It's a pleasure to see the boys play with their hearts on their sleeves each week and seeing some great creative and defensive play makes it all worthwhile.
The students will get the opportunity to compete in the Kent Cup and Harris Cup, giving them the chance to take on different schools with different abilities and styles of play. To improvise in the moment in order to beat an opponent, helps promote pupils' creativity - a transferrable skill which is valuable not only in sport but in working life too.
Sport helps to build relationships with other peers, promote teamwork and build resilience where pupils have to adapt to different footballing scenarios.
It's a pleasure coaching these boys, and the wins are definitely on the horizon. Come on HGA!
