Secondary Staff Add Depth to Primary Learning
We are really lucky in the primary school at Harris Garrard Academy to be part of an all-through school, with students from early years right through to sixth form.
Our primary children benefit hugely from the expertise and resources available in the secondary phase. Here are a couple of examples of how working with secondary staff adds depth and challenge to learning in Year 4. Collaboration at its best!
In their penultimate DT learning of the year, Arcimboldo Class continued with their 3D graphic writing, with Mr Brooks from the secondary school. They focused on writing their names and, using specialist paper, they added depth to it by shading and including colour in their pieces.
In Food Technology, the children created a savoury rice and fish recipe with secondary teacher Ms Miller Peart. The children learnt about adding spices and flavouring to their ingredients and how to make a nutritious meal on a budget. It was certainly delicious!
Thank you to our secondary staff for all their help this year in the primary phase!
