Harris Federation Sports Day Success
Harris Garrard attended and competed in the Harris Federation Sports Day at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre on Thursday.
This event was attended by 25 other Harris academies and competition was fierce. Harris Garrard took 27 competitors, who had all qualified at a previous event.
Garrard pupils started strongly with performances from Samuel (Year 9) finishing second in the 100m B final with a time of 12.61. This was quickly followed by a good performance by Samuel (Year 10), who also finished second with a time of 12.47.
Another outstanding track performance came from Year 7 Jefferey who showed great resilience to battle for third place. At the 600m mark it was neck and neck and he fought hard past the line to secure a medal.
The next medal came from the long jump pit, with an impressive performance from fellow Year 7 pupil, AJ. AJ jumped to success to secure second place on the podium. The last medal also came from another field event - this time the javelin competition. Leoni (Year 9), retained her title as winner of the javelin event, having secured the same title last year. She did not only win, but won by 4m. This is an massive achievement.
All 27 pupils showed great maturity and determination in their events throughout the day. This is all credit to their hard working they put in to the training beforehand.
Well done Harris Garrard.
