Duke of Edinburgh Students Prepare for Expedition
Our Year 12 Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award students completed their practice expedition from Erith to Bexley last weekend led by Doug Jackson, our Duke of Edinburgh leader.
They took full advantage of the Bank Holiday weekend to cover 8.5 miles and make sure they are prepared for their real expedition in July.
Prior to leaving, it was essential that all students attended the safety briefing led by Mrs Crouchman. Thank you to our site team for opening up the school and of course Ms Lillington for accompanying and supporting the students on this expedition.
The expedition took in some of the main local sites such as the Erith Pier (longest pier in London), Crayford Marshes, Hall Place and Old Bexley. You can still find water reeds in the marshes which is a primary material for constructing thatched houses. A great time was had by all.
As you can see there was even time to attend the outdoor gym!
