Year 11 Football-Harris Academy Beckenham 2 HGA 1
The Year 11 football team faced Harris Academy Beckenham in the first round of the Kent Cup on Thursday 22 September.
It was a close fought game with Beckenham just shading the first half and led by a goal to nil. The 2nd half was a totally different game and the Harris Garrard Academy dominated the game. We scored an early goal to equalise with a great set piece corner from Jordan. Jessie met the corner with a thunder header to make it 1-1.
The boys continued to push forward and if it wasn’t for the Beckenham goalkeeper who pulled out a wonder save from Bailey's curling shot which was flying into the top corner we would have been 2-1.
Wonderful display
However the Beckenham goalie continued to make some great saves and his handling was excellent. With one minute to go the game was looking to go to penalties, however this was not to be our day. A great run from the Beckenham winger took the ball wide and he hit a wonder strike into the bottom corner to win the game for the opposition.
I would like to congratulate our boys on a wonderful display and it was a pleasure to see two great sides fighting for victory, and playing in the right spirit of the game. Well done to the Year 11 football team, I was very proud of all of your performances.
