Book Fair Comes to School, 14-21 March
It's Book Fair Week for secondary students at Harris Garrard Academy from 14-21 March - with our own bookshop in the foyer by the library at lunchtime.
Students will have the opportunity to look through bookcases containing over 200 of the newest and best books from over sixty publishers.
With books starting from only £2.99, plus exclusive titles that you won’t see in the shops or at any other fairs, there’s something for everyone!
Scholastic has provided cases full of new, popular books, as well as the classics which schools can sell, to bring a book shop into the heart of the school so that children can browse.
Love reading
At HGA, we often hold a Book Fair around World Book Day to try and gain maximum momentum leading up to the fair. It's all about getting children talking about books! They compare what they bought at the Book Fair and create their own book clubs too.
The academy also gets a percentage of the taking which we use to buy books for the school. Last year the target for the Primary Phase target was £600, and thanks to all the parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents who have taken the time to come to the Book Fair, we smashed our target.
What students say last year...
"It’s so cool to have a book shop at school. Can we have another one?"
What staff said...
"There’s a real buzz around the classroom. My children love reading but this has made them really excited. They’re comparing blurbs and authors all on their own."
Come along and see for yourself, 14-21 March 2019.
